Sumo Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar: Exceptional Hibachi & Sushi Experience in Hoover

We went here to celebrate my daughter's 13th birthday, this was the 2nd time we went and we enjoyed ourselves, the food and customer service is great, the shrimp and steak is my go to favorite but my daughter orders the lobster every time we go

It was Valentine's day and the wait was only ten minutes to be sat. The service was good and the food was amazing our chef was funny and personable and the food was cooked perfectly my scallops were there best I've ever had I was truly happy with everything.... Even the price.... They really give it their all here it's an amazing place to eat!!!

First time for my parents and they loved it. Food was great. Our server and grill master were wonderful.

I was in Hoover yesterday and was wanting Japanese food. Usually I get Stix in fultondale but the location in Hoover was closed. That is what lead me to find Sumo’s. Honestly, I think their food was better anyways! I ordered three hibachi chicken dinners with fried rice, one without onions, all to go. They got the order correct and weren’t difficult about the no onion order (which is rare to find)! The food was ready fast and prepared well to travel with. I would definitely go back again! It was a great dinner for me and my family!

I recently dined at Sumo Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar in Hoover, Alabama, and it was an enjoyable experience overall.  Hibachi Experience & Atmosphere As with many hibachi-style restaurants, the presentation was both entertaining and impressive. The chefs showcased their skills with flair, making the meal a delightful spectacle. The atmosphere was lively and inviting, perfect for both families and groups celebrating special occasions. Service & Portions The servers were attentive and ensured our needs were met throughout the meal. The portions were generous—so much so that we had plenty to take home for later. The food was delicious, with the hibachi dishes cooked to perfection and the sushi fresh and flavorful. Additional Charges One aspect to be aware of is the nearly $10 service charge added to the bill, which is not considered part of the tip. This means that tipping your server is still expected on top of this fee. Additionally, there’s an $8 charge for sharing a plate, which seemed a bit steep given the ample portion sizes that could easily feed two people with leftovers.  Final Thoughts Despite these additional charges, the overall dining experience at Sumo Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar was positive. If you’re in the Hoover area and in the mood for a fun and flavorful hibachi meal, I would recommend giving this restaurant a try. 

Everything was 10/10 from beginning to end. No waiting, Great grill entertainment,salad,soup, and appetizers came really fast! I highly recommend you come here for lunch or Dinner. I will surely come again.

Basic hibachi food which was fine. Nothing negative but nothing to make we want to rave either.
